Stuck in Singapore in transit? A guide to killing time in one of the world’s coolest airports.

Slumber Party Hostels

Welcome to Slumber Party Hostel. We are  proud to offer the best party hostel experience for backpackers across Thailand and Indonesia.

Travelling takes a toll on the best of us, especially long haul flights and the dreaded long layovers. There’s nothing worse than getting off a plane after 13 hours and having to wait 8 hours for your next flight. Yuck! Thankfully, Singapore is located smack dab in the middle of Southeast Asia, making Singapore Changi Airport the most convenient airport for connections.

Changi is famously known as the world’s best airport creating a world of wonder inside it’s doors offering top of the line entertainment, food, shopping, and experiences. If there is any airport in the world to endure a long layover, it’s Changi Airport. Killing time at the airport in Singapore will have you contemplating whether or not you want to make your next flight. The next time you’re stuck in Singapore in transit, be sure to follow this guide to killing time in one of the world’s coolest airports!

FREE MASSAGE

I don’t know about you, but after a long haul flight my legs and feet are usually sore from sitting in the same position for hours. Changi Airport recognized this is a common problem and installed foot and calf  massage stations on Terminal 1, 2, and 3 that are completely FREE! What a great way to start your layover journey.

BICYCLE CHARGING STATIONS

Another way to get your blood flowing is to jump on a stationary bicycle at Terminal 3 transfer B area. This not only gives you a mini workout, which can feel amazing after being stagnant for hours in a cramped airplane seat, it also charges your phone! This is a prime example of Singapore’s innovative airport giving you lots to do during your layover.

STAFF CANTEEN

A one of a kind experience at Changi is going on the famous hunt for the Staff Canteen. This Hawker style food court offers affordable yet delicious options. As the name suggests, it’s meant for staff, however it is open to whoever happens to stumble upon it or seeks it out!

CANOPY PARK

This is one of the many famous installations at Changi, and for good reason. The awe inspiring structures, indoor jungle, and vibrant flowers take you to another world. You’ll forget you’re even at an airport! Canopy Park is located at the top level of Jewel and admission is only 5 SGD, which is a small price to pay to experience a wonderland like Canopy Park. Not to mention, A LOT is included in the admission . The Discovery Slide (which is more than a slide, it’s more of an art installation/playground/viewing deck). Topiary Walk. Foggy Bowls (running through clouds floating atop perfectly manicured grass is sometimes exactly what you need. Lastly admission includes Petal Garden. What a great deal, and a chance to make some awesome memories!

BUTTERFLY GARDEN

Butterfly Garden is exactly what it sounds like. Lush greenery, waterfalls, and beautiful butterflies fluttering around with the backdrop of this amazing setting. If you’re an anxious flyer, this is the perfect place to come relax and ease your mind. You can even come up close to a butterfly feasting on a piece of fruit to get a good look at their awesome wings! Just be sure to check this out during the day as the butterflies sleep at night. Admission is free and it’s located on Terminal 3. You don’t want to miss this one!

ENTERTAINMENT DECK

For all you gamers and movie buffs out there the Entertainment Deck is a treat! Located on Level 1 of Terminal 2. The deck is equipped with a 24 hour movie theatre, Xbox, Playstation, old school arcade machines, and computer games. You will be able to kill a ton of time here jumping from game to game, or even seeing a movie or two for FREE! Just remember to not miss your connecting flight while wrapped up in all the fun.

SINGAPORE CITY TOUR

If all of these amazing attractions at Changi Airport don’t excite you, there is an option for you to tour Singapore City at no cost. This is a great way to squeeze in a mini sightseeing trip on your way to your destination and get a taste of Singapore. The tour takes about 3 hours, so it’s recommended you have at least 5-24 hours between flights. You can choose between a bus tour, which stops at two famous landmarks for a short photo op. Or join the the walking tour, to stretch those legs. What an awesome way to kill time between flights!

Singapore Changi Airport know what they’re doing in terms of passenger experience. I mean, if you’re going to be stuck in an airport for hours on end, why not make it a time to remember. So the next time you’re booking your flight. Be sure that it connects through Changi. And if you find yourself STUCK IN SINGAPORE IN TRANSIT?
