Koh Yao Yai: A perfect island to chill after Partying in Phuket

Koh Yao Yai is an island located in the middle of Phang Nga Bay in between the coasts of Krabi and Phuket, Ko Yao Yai offers a calm refuge from busy beaches and the wild nights you’ve spent partying. If you are looking to take a few days off in between the Phuket Pub Crawl, and the Krabi Pub Crawl on your journey across Thailand, Koh Yao Yai is definitely a place you should check out.

Visit Koh Yoh Yai Village

A visit to Koh Yao Yai’s dreamy village will give you a great first impression of the island. You’ll be greeted by friendly locals and unbelievably clear waters that are perfect for snorkeling. There are a wealth of activities to do in this village during the day and at night. You can check out the local market, where you’ll find traditional handcrafted Thai ornaments and local delicatessens. Or, head to the village’s beach where you can play volleyball and beach soccer on smooth white sands.

Relax on One of the Island’s many Beaches

Koh Yoh Yai is a paradise of turquoise blue coastline where beautiful beaches thrive. Here’s where to relax and lie out in the sun on your next trip to the island:

Laem Had Beach

For thick groves of coconut trees, twittering birds and smooth white sands, visit Laem Had Beach. One of the most fabulous sunsets on the island is right here on this beach

Loh Paret Beach

Loh Paret beach is one of Koh Yao Yai’s busiest beaches on the central west coast of the island. Along with three resorts, it offers sunset views, golden sands and swimming in clear water. Don’t let the busyness fool you, however. There are still plenty of places to find a patch of sand to relax on in Loh Paret. Plus, you can stop by the Yao Yai Resort for sunset cocktail hour if you fancy a drink or two.

Loh Jark Beach

Loh Jark beach can get quite busy, especially when decorated by speedboat day-trippers and jet skis. But, this stretch of white sand is still dream-like, nonetheless. Swim in its clear waters or lie down and soak up the sun.

Ao Muang Beach

For a small secluded beach, head to Ao Muang. This fine stretch of sand doused with palm tree fringes has some of the bluest water on Koh Yao Yai. You won’t find a swarm of jet-ski’s here—just calmness under a beautiful sun.

Spend a day at the Spa

Koh Yao Yai’s beaches aren’t the only places to find a relaxing retreat. Wind down at one of the island’s soothing spas. Go on a Sightseeing Tour of Koh Yao Noi

Koh Yao Yai Village also offers long tail boat tours to Koh Yao Noi, the smaller sister island of Koh Yao Yai from Krabi Island. You’ll arrive by long tail boat and admire the beaches and views of the Hong Island archipelago along the way. On Koh Yao Noi, you can do a variety of fun activities like rock climbing, scuba diving, boating, kayaking and more. Koh Yao Noi has a bit more development than Koh Yao Yai. Here, you’ll find shops, luxurious resorts and small beach huts for backpackers. There are ferries to Koh Yao Noi from Krabi Town daily.

How to Get to Koh Yao Yai

From Krabi Town, you can take a ferry from Tha Len to Klong Hia Pier via Ko Yao Noi daily at 13:00. There’s also a speedboat you can take at Nopparat Thara Pier to Klong Hia Pier via Ko Yao Noi daily at 11:00.
