“got Crabs?”: The Best Places For Seafood In Krabi

All beach towns serve seafood. Krabi is filled with seafood restaurants fighting over tourists. They even have a seafood street filled with these restaurants. However, not all restaurants will give you what you are looking for. Avoid seafood restaurant nightmares in the form of overcooked, gummy or dry shellfish and possible food poisoning. Check out our list of the best places for seafood in Krabi.

LAEM SAK SEAFOOD

Laem Sak Pier, Ao Luk

Open daily, 10am – 9pm

Named after one of the regions’ best fishing ports, Laem Sak Seafood offers the best of the daily local catches, from huge oysters to pu dam, black mud craps with massive, juicy claws. All of these amazing delights can be ordered steamed, grilled, or cooked Thai-style with a bit of zing.

KRUA THARA

Next to National Park HQ, Nopparat Thara

Open daily 11am – 9pm

Part of seafood strip that is more popular to the Thais, Krua Thara has a wide selection of seafood with an extensive range of shellfish, which are stir-fried with basil and chili.

WANG SAI SEAFOOD

Nopparat Thara Beach.

Open daily 10am – 10pm

With its beachside location, reasonable prices, and killer seafood dishes, the restaurant does get packed with tourists. The upside is that the staff is quick and you will be served in no time. With their large variety of fish, crabs, and clams, it is a big shame that their wide array of dishes is not conveyed in the English translation of their menu. Go for the yam thale makheua pao (seafood with chargrilled aubergine) or catfish red curry (pad phet pla duuk).

THE CRAB COMPANY

The Esplanade Ao Nang, Krabi

If you are a big fan of crabs, then you will appreciate this restaurant on Ao Nang Seafood Street, which shows that there is more than one way to cook a crab in Krabi. Have your fill of their Thai-style crab cakes which are accompanied by a light mango and watermelon salsa with Asian pesto, giving you a tangy, refreshing taste with your fried seafood. After, go for their special, the chili crab and wash it down with a nice, refreshing glass of mojito. Not just limited to crabs, their Tom Yun Gung comes with huge, juicy tiger prawns. And, to sweeten the deal, go on a Sunday night and get a 10% discount.

THE LONGTAIL BOAT

Ao Nang, Mueang Krabi District, Krabi 81180, Thailand

Open daily, 1PM to 10:30PM

Another highlight of the Ao Nang seafood street, the Longtail Boat gets a lot of raves in Trip Advisor. With their fusion of east and west, you can enjoy your seafood in many ways in this venue. Here, the seafood pasta and the crab in yellow curry are highly recommended.

CHABA THAI KITCHEN

32/15, Moo 2, Ao Nang, Mueang Krabi District, Krabi 81180, Thailand

Open daily, 2PM to 9:30PM

Looking for something more local, then go to the Chaba Thai Kitchen on Ao Nang Seafood Street, where you will get the best Thai version of the freshest seafood by the beach. Their must-try dishes include green curry and tiger prawns steamed in chili and lime.

249 CORNER

Corner of Uttarakit and Luangpho Roads, Krabi Town

Open daily 10am – 10pm

The new kid on the block, the low-key restaurant is owned by a veteran restaurateur and foodie who chooses the best ingredients and cooks it to perfection. On the list of things to try are their clay pot mussels and baby squid salad, which are both bursting in flavor and tender, unlike the overcooked gummy versions you tend to find elsewhere.
